What is a lip augmentation procedure?

The procedure of lip augmentation and shaping using hyaluronic acid is one of the most popular methods for enhancing lip shape. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring component of connective tissue, responsible for retaining water in the skin and ensuring proper hydration. The products used for lip augmentation come in the form of a gel, which is safely introduced using a needle. During the injection of the product, the person performing the procedure controls the amount of substance and shapes the lips to achieve a natural effect.

What will I look like after a hyaluronic acid procedure?

After a hyaluronic acid procedure, particularly with cross-linked hyaluronic acid, there is swelling for the first few days because hyaluronic acid is a humectant and binds water in the skin. The extent and duration of swelling depend on various factors, including the individual's hydration status and other factors such as immune system diseases, blood thinning (e.g., due to alcohol), or other inflammatory conditions in the body (e.g., tooth decay). Typically, the swelling is most significant in the first two days, especially on the second day in the morning due to additional water binding overnight. The entire recovery period lasts 4-6 weeks. During this period, the treated area may intermittently retain water, which can result in slight unevenness.

What does the procedure look like?

Before starting the lip augmentation procedure, a detailed consultation is conducted with the person performing the procedure, during which the desired effect, the amount in milliliters, and the technique are discussed. The second step is numbing the lips with a special cream for about 5-10 minutes. Hyaluronic acid has a gel-like consistency and is administered using thin, small needles. This helps minimize bruising and swelling after the procedure.

LIP AUGMENTATION

Is the procedure painful?

One of the strongest anesthetics on the market is used for the procedure to make it painless, but some patients may experience slight discomfort.

What results can I expect?

Immediately after the procedure, the lips will be swollen, even up to 40% more than the intended final result. The procedure allows for an increase in lip volume, creating a fuller end result. As a result of the procedure, the skin around the lips may become smoother and more elastic. The procedure can also correct lip asymmetry, thus equalizing their size and shape. It positively affects the proportion of the face, creating a harmonious effect.

How long does the effect last?

Many factors influence the duration of the effect, starting from our lifestyle, the amount of substances consumed, body hydration, age, and genetic predispositions. The second procedure is aimed at maintaining the results and should be repeated within 9-12 months. However, if your lips have not yet achieved your desired shape and size, the second procedure can be performed sooner, even after 3-6 months.

Does the result look natural?

The result of lip augmentation can appear natural or unnatural depending on the individual needs and expectations of the patient and the techniques used by our specialist. It is important to discuss with the specialist during the consultation before the procedure what effects you want to achieve. Our specialist will assess which methods and the amount of the product will be suitable for the individual to achieve the desired effect.

When will I see the results?

The initial effect is visible immediately after the procedure. After 4 weeks, we can talk about the final effect. At that time, the lips are fully healed, and the hyaluronic acid has had time to distribute properly.
